Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day – the day we celebrate the woman who brought us into this world, the woman who loves us unconditionally, the woman who will be there for us through thick and thin, and the woman who will never judge us for our less than lady or gentlemen like days. For me Mother’s Day is one of the most important days of the year and is a day to make our mothers feel as special as possible! What better way to make her feel special than shower her with gifts and a day of total happiness. Here’s my pulled together gift guide for our special moms and a few suggestions on how to spend to day with the most important lady in our lives!

1. FabFitFun put together a “Mother’s Day Gifts She’ll Love” guide. I personally love the Kindle Fire idea & CocoCozy Beach Candle. My mom’s been wanting a Kindle and she loves candles.

2. Real Simple created “The Best Gifts for Mom” list complete with a Cape Jasmine Bottle Stopper and an Ikat and Domino Wood Box Set. I know my mom would love the Terry Beach Reader and Tomorrow Candle.

3. DailyCandy listed “29 Things Editor Lindsey Gladstone Covets for Mother’s Day.” I know my mom would love the Postcard Poets and Karamels Sea Salt Caramels.

Personalized Gift Ideas

1. FabFitFun’s “Mother’s Day Gifts She’ll Love” suggested Picture Frame Wine Glass Charms for the wine lover moms and a Shutterfly Photo Book for the mom that needs more photos of the family!

2. Real Simple’s “The Best Gifts for Mom” suggested an Annual Framed Calendar and a Silver Street Folding Pocket Frame.

3. Lauren Conrad created a “DIY Gift Guide: Mother’s Day Crafts!” I love the idea of Dip-Dyed Stationary & Cards and a Cookbook filled with your favorite recipes.

4. DailyCandy’s “29 Things Editor Lindsey Gladstone Covets for Mother’s Day” suggested M Is for Mama Magnetic Portrait Set! An adorable way to showcase your family in your kitchen!

For Mom’s who Love to Cook

1. Real Simple’s “The Best Gifts for Mom” suggested Snow Drop Anemone Personalized Recipe Cards and a Bamboo Cutting Board with Laswer Engraved Recipe. I just might have to buy that cutting board for myself!

2. FabFitFun’s “Mother’s Day Gifts She’ll Love” suggested a Babycakes Flip Over Cake Pop Maker. We all know how popular cake pops are right now.

Other great gifts that I would spoil my mom with are:

  • Cooking Classes at a local cooking school or a store like Sur la Table.  Sign up for the class too if you love to cook!
  • A new Cook Book – my mom is always looking for new dishes to try so whenever I’m out I always look for a cook book she might like to add to her collection. Make sure you write a personal note in the front of the book!

How to Spend The Day

Every mom is different but no matter what you plan as long as you plan something I’m sure she will love it. Here are a few ideas I think all moms might like!

1. Pamper your mom with breakfast, lunch or dinner made by you. Allow her to take the day off and just relax. Let her read her favorite book outside in the sun or help her garden if she feels in the mood. Give her the perfect day of relaxation by making sure everything that she would typically do on a Sunday is done by you!

2. Take your mom out for Mother’s Day Brunch at her favorite restaurant. Spend the rest of the day walking around the town or city you live in. You could go to a movie she’s been dying to see or go to a play or musical she heard got great reviews.

3. Pack a picnic and take your mom on a hike along a local trail or if you’re not a huge hiker just go to a local park and enjoy being outside. With spring here the flowers are blooming and being outside on a beautiful day is always enjoyable.

This year one of my sisters is flying home to help me spoil our mom. We are starting the day with tea {from my recent trip to London} and scones from our favorite bread company and then heading up to Portland for a day in the city complete with some garden walks, shopping, and hopefully a late brunch or early dinner at a favorite spot!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother’s Day, remember to spoil your mom even if it’s just some handpicked flowers from the garden and a sweet card! Everyone knows it’s the thought that counts!
